Schiedam, the Netherlands, May 19, 2016: From now on, Nolet Distillery is delighted to be known as Royal Nolet Distillery. During the celebrations marking the Distillery's 325th anniversary, Cor Lamers, the mayor of Schiedam, announced that His Majesty the King had decided to grant Nolet Distillery permission to use the designation 'Royal'.
Founded by Joannes Nolet in 1691, Nolet Distillery has always been a Schiedam family business and it is currently managed by the tenth and eleventh generations of the Nolet family. Nolet Distillery is one of the oldest family businesses in the Netherlands and it is the oldest family business in the distilling industry.
Carel Nolet senior, tenth generation Nolet: "We are pleasantly surprised by this news and deeply honored that this should happen on the actual eve of our anniversary celebrations and on Queen Maxima’s birthday. We have a very strong connection with the Royal Family. My family and I are extremely gratified and proud to hear this news in the presence of so many people who play a part in our brands and our company. We owe this designation to them, too. I also consider it to be an expression of respect and appreciation for all the Nolet generations who have gone before us and have made our company into the Distillery it is today."
It’s been our home since 1691 and where our father Carolus Nolet, the 10th Generation, first merged old world pot-still and modern distillation techniques to create Ketel One Vodka. We created this commemorative bottle of Ketel One Vodka to celebrate this milestone.
